The economy at the Lake of the Ozarks has grown tremendously in the last several years. The local population has grown 22% since 2019! Multiple businesses have recently expanded to the lake area, including Aldi, Hobby Lobby, and First Watch.

 

According to the local Chambers of Commerce, most of our small businesses are thriving with the population increase! Entrepreneurs are taking advantage of the boost, so you’ll see new businesses sprouting in every town around the lake… boutiques, coffee houses, nutritional shake cafes, local restaurants, crafting workshops, axe throwing, and so much more.

 

Not only does this mean the Lake is a great place to open a business and capitalize on its growth, but it also means the area is ripe for the right developer to come in and build beautiful and affordable housing for all the employees working at these new businesses! 

 

The Missouri Leadership 2022 cohort, sponsored by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce, has a Workforce Task Force who has identified affordable housing as one of the major needs in the region. The numerous vacant lots around the Lake of the Ozarks provide the perfect opportunity to create housing for employees so the community can continue to grow alongside these great businesses.
